Spreading enthusiasm for health and exercise to potentially advance the wellbeing of others.
This year’s BMW Charity Cycle was due to take place on Friday the 4th of September in aid of our charity partner Pieta. Having been postponed until 2021, we encouraged participants to do their own cycle either by themselves or in socially distanced small groups, to continue our support for Pieta during these difficult times as well as raising awareness of Mental Health in Ireland.
We attracted over 90 cyclists and support crew from the BMW community in Ireland and it was great to see some of whom set out on their own cycle in the BMW jersey’s. Enterprise Ireland’s Pete Weedon organised a 75km cycle for his team, in which our MD Kevin Davidson joined. They cycled along Clontarf’s coast road, traveling into Howth and in Donabate. Tara Byrne from Enterprise managed to get some great images of the group throughout the day.
John Lawlor, hosted a cycle in his hometown Naas. The group consisted of Frank Keane’s Head of Business cyclist duo, Mark Colbert and Mark Bradley, as well as our MD Kevin. They set out on a scenic100km route around Blessington lakes.
The ‘Brogan Wheelers’ got together in the Phoenix Park for a cycle and a coffee. Aisling’s Dad, Ollie Brogan represented the BMW jersey as he cycled from Malin to Mizen Head – traveling over 600km in 3 days all to support Pieta.
We hope to see some others take to the saddle before we can join together again in 2021.
